How does breast reduction work ?
Breast reduction surgery is indicated for any patient whose breasts are excessively large, causing neck or back pain.
Before the date of surgery, a preoperative blood test is performed, as well as a radiological check-up of both breasts and a pre-anesthetic visit.
Before the operation, the practitioner makes a skin marking with a felt pen in an upright position.
The operation can last between 2 to 3 hours. It consists in removing excess tissue and skin, lifting the gland and positioning the nipple and areola properly.
What are the consequences of the operation ?
Wearing a support bra over the dressing is compulsory for 2 to 4 weeks. The patient may feel uncomfortable and heavy when she raises her arms.
