The gastric sleeve is an ablation of the part of the stomach containing the cells that secrete the appetite-stimulating hormone (called ghrelin). With this surgical procedure, the stomach is reduced to a vertical tube. Only appetite is reduced, food digestion is not disturbed.
This procedure takes 1 to 2 hours.
A pre-anesthetic consultation is mandatory before the operation.
What are the consequences of the operation ?
You may feel pain that can be managed by painkillers. The diet is gradually resumed following the advice of your doctor.
