This operation modifies the food circuit by connecting the bottom of the esophagus and a small part of the upper pole of the stomach directly to a loop in the small intestine.<\/p>\n
Gastric bypass aims to cause a slower passage of food, a decrease in ghrelin levels, malabsorption of food and dumping syndrome.<\/p>\n
It is an irreversible operation and can be performed under laparoscopy or by laparotomy.<\/p>\n
